I’m Michelle and I am the creator of this here blog, Radiant Brown Beauty.
As a woman of color over 40 whose had struggles with self esteem, I’ve decided to share some of the information and tips that have helped me to appreciate my physical beauty as it is, I have a passion for embracing my naturally curly fine hair.
I regularly share my tips for fine natural hair care and general beauty. These tips are for all shades of beautiful and are categorized in the navigation bar above.
About My Natural Hair
I’m a fine natural hair curly which just means that while I have a lot of hairs on my head (not thick density but medium density), those hairs are very thin and alone they look invisible. I’ve been natural for over 10 years (I don’t recall the exact date. I just know that after reading the book, Thinning Edges by Cathy Howse, I was afraid the relaxer would burn out my hair. I began my natural journey all those years ago.
My fine natural hair is of a medium density so it can look pretty thick (depending on the style) when my individual fine hairs are clumped together. That’s one of the reason I prefer my hair in it’s curly state.
More specefically on my hair type, it’s classified predominantly as type 3C but the hair typing system isn’t that accurate. Everyone has more than one type of hair on their head so if you want to get REAL specefic, I’m overal a type 3 but then I have a nice sprinkle of type 4A in my crown andmy nape and sides are probably closer to a type 3A/B.
Why I Started Radiant Brown Beauty
You probably love to smell, look and feel nice. If you have read this far, you are absolutely into making your brown skin and natural hair (relaxed too!) look and feel absolutely fabulous. Well, that’s part of the reason I started this blog. To help you out with that by sharing my learnings along with suggested products for skin and hair care.
I like to keep it as natural as possible but sometimes I’ll share a product that may contain some form of safe preservative. It’s up to you to check out all suggestions for yourself. Remember, what works for one may not work for another.
I share my learnings and experiences but I’d also like to earn from you! I certainly don’t know it all. This blog is just to share what I do know about natural hair care, but together we can learn from each other.
I love to engage in discussions so please feel free to comment on all posts! You can also contact me here.
It is my goal for this blog to become a major source of information sharing related to over 40 beauty and women trying to grow their fine natural hair long and strong.
Now, let me share some things about me (some may be boring but most…not so much
Things I Love
I love pretty things and smelling nice. What lady doesn’t?
I love essential oils. They are great for so many things from smelling nice to getting rid of pain.
I love to sing but can’t.
I love dogs but am allergic.
I love to write pieces of informative info. that help me connect with my readers.
I love my life and the people I spend it with (Husband, 3 Children and a boy cat. I had a girl but she passed away in mid-2012. She thought she was human and I really miss her)
What Irks me and How I Handle It
Because I like to smell nice, it really irks the heck out of me that most of the beauty products on the market are filled with such junk. Sure, there are some quality brands but you often have to try a few bad apples before finding them. So I conduct product reviews (and LOTS of them). I like to share with my readers the good, the bad and the ugly in skin care products.
