5 Beauty Tips for Red Carpet Stardom & A $100 Giveaway (CLOSED)

red carpet ready beauty tips

Parties, reunions and special nights out are at the cusp of a woman’s life when she must look her best. For my five beauty tips for “red carpet stardom” at social extravaganzas AND a chance to win a $100 Visa Gift Card sponsored by COVERGIRL, keep reading.

I- Channel Your Favorite Celebrity’s Style

There’s a lot of inspiration to be gained from your favorite female celebrities. If you’re a fan of Sofia Vergara, you know she’s famous for playing up looks that make you think of romance on the red carpet. Maybe, Janelle Monae is more your style. Her fashion sense is a bit more edgy. Janelle has been often seen wearing dark nail colors and rocking a tuxedo. Once you’ve decided the type of look you’re going for (formal, bad girl, etc), it’s time to plan your color palette.

II- Choose a Color Scheme for the Evening

For the most polished look, color coordinate from head to toe. Your makeup should be properly coordinated with your clothes, accessories and nail polish. When in doubt, go neutral (bronzes, silvers, golds). Neutral colors that shimmer are a great way to look gorgeous for a social gathering. COVERGIRL® Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss #230, Golden Opportunity is a gorgeous high gloss shade of gold with just the right amount of shimmer. This nail polish applies smoothly and is equal in quality to more expensive brands. It has a 3-in-1 formula so there’s no need for a base or topcoat. Visit COVERGIRL online for full details and 15 shades to inspire you (more shades coming in January!).

III- Prep Your Skin

Caring for your skin in the most protective way should be standard practice, but when you’re looking for red carpet stardom, you need a special glimmer. Some skin prepping is necessary. Before applying your makeup, give your face a good exfoliation. This will deep cleanse and even out your skin. Follow with a toner, moisturizer and oil-free primer. Then, you’re ready for makeup

IV- Play Up Your Eyes

To make a splash of impression, use your eyes to capture attention. Aside from your eye shadow and liner, your choice of mascara shouldn’t be made lightly. You need a mascara that glides on smoothly and has staying power. COVERGIRL® Clump Crusher Mascara will give you voluminous lashes that are set for the evening. This formula does not clump ever! I was a skeptic at first but after testing out the “zero clumps, even after 30 strokes” claim, I was convinced.

The curved brush design allows you to layer this mascara on for darker, more voluminous lashes that last the evening through. Score!

V- Every Hair in Place

If you’re a natural girl like me, make sure every curl is in place. Wash-and-go styles are perfect for special occasions. Seal your hair before styling to prevent frizz from taking over. Layering a butter based curl cream over a gel yields beautiful results.

If you’re not a natural curly, use stylers to keep your straight hair in place for a polished look. If you choose to “create” curls, style it in an up-do that cascades those curls for a sassy look.

BONUS Tip: Prepare for Mishaps

While this tip is less about getting you social stardom from appearing red carpet ready, it’s important because it will help keep you that way. When you’re out on the town, beauty mishaps happen. Make sure your handbag is stocked with beauty essentials like HandiWipes, hair pins, deodorant and a nail file. Check out the SheMergency Survival Kit Infographic for more ideas. Before your next event, follow these beauty tips to help you look radiant to release that inner diva!
