Three Doctors You Should See Annually But Neglect

overlooked medical careAs we enter the New Year, one of the most important things that you should focus on is your health. Without it, you have nothing else. It won’t matter if you have money or fame. Health comes first. That’s why I’m sharing three types of doctors (and their counterparts) that should be a part of your annual check up but are often neglected:

Dermatologist/Aesthetician

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Your skin helps release the toxins from your body so it would make sense that you should take care of this organ the way you would your heart, lungs and brain.

Seeing a dermatologist regularly can help detect skin cancer early while an aesthetician can help you maintain the clarity of your skin.

Dentist/Hygienist

There are a number of teeth and gum conditions that can affect your health. For example, gum disease can lead to heart problems.

Visiting a dentist regularly (1-2x a year) helps to keep your teeth and gums in the best possible condition. A hygienist works with the dentist to help maintain your oral health by providing you with cleanings and early oral cancer detection.

Ophthalmologist/Optometrist

Seeing an ophthalmologist and/or optometrist is not just so you can determine if you need glasses. An optometrist can diagnose early eye disease and help detect sight problems while an ophthalmologist specializes in providing a full spectrum of eye care including treating diseases of the eye and performing surgery (if necessary).

Your sight is a hot commodity.

When you start making your list of of personal care appointments to make throughout the new year, don’t forget to make appointments to see a dermatologist/aesthetician, dentist/hygienist and optometrist/ophthalmologist. Your skin, teeth and eyes are a vital part of your physical body. But you know that already right ? :-)
