When you hear the word “diva” what do you think of? Do you think about a female who is an absolute snob walking over others around her just because she thinks she’s the sh!$?
Who Is A Diva?
The original definition of the word “diva” is a celebrated female singer (See Wikipedia). Merriam Webster defines it as a female performer or personality who is usually glamorous and successful.
The “slang” definition of the word “diva” is one who behaves as a goddess or queen (and some males of the other persuasion have been termed divas too!)
Over time, the word “diva” has evolved. It’s no longer considered someone famous or with their head stuck up their behind. Being a diva is a state of mind that reflects how you see and carry yourself.
My definition of being a diva is about having a high self esteem to the point where you walk with confidence but not arrogance. You do things to and for yourself that help elevate that confidence.
Why You’re Here
The tag line for this blog is “Release your Inner Diva with Skin and Hair tips.” I created this blog for unknown divas like myself to express, highlight, celebrate and learn to release their inner and outer beauty. While I do talk about way to improve upon and protect your skin and hair, I also talk about caring for your body and your soul. You can’t be all superficial and ignore what’s happening on the inside of you. That’s because your outer appearance eventual reflects how you feel about yourself inside.
I’m no psychiatrist but I’ve discovered something. In order to release your inner diva, you have to focus on finding the path to your true beauty. Then, you have to appreciate who you are enough to care for yourself from head to toe in a way that says, “I’m worth it.”
That means you don’t go out with hair half done or skin all ashy. Yes, I said it. I’ve been guilty of it. But how do you reflect how great you feel about who you are when you are looking a hot mess?
Just sayin’ Don’t shoot the messenger. This is for somebody out there.
At any rate, after you work out the “inner beauty” thing, check out some of these resources to help you work on the outer beauty so you can release that inner diva of yours:

Most people really do think that a diva is a snob when in reality she’s not. She’s just someone that knows her worth and is confident in everything she does.
Great post Michelle

Thanks Mia. That’s the way I see it too but for sure there are some divas who are snobs. It’s a personal choice to decide who you want to be.
This word can either be a positive attribute or a negative one. Diva’s can be very inspiring, providing they empower others to be the same. Then you get those Diva’s that think their sh– don’t stink. Those are the ones that eventually get their crown broken and end up looking a fool.
But I digress. I think being your own DIVA eludes to something inside you. You either have it or you don’t. I think those that find it go through so much crap in their life that they find that inner strength to press on and the Diva simply comes out.

I don’t disagree with you. i just think the definition of the word has evolved. It’s definitely no longer about being a woman who as you say thinks her sh** don’t stink.
Sometimes it does take a woman going through things before she develops the kind of strength within that she reflects it on the outside.
