Am I driving you nuts with info. on Fashion’s Night Out yet?

Bear with me. It is going to be a night to remember and only 2 days away. It’s an especially exciting night for bloggers like myself.

I’ve been attending events on Fashion’s Night Out from day 1. This is the 3rd year so it’s not like it’s been years for me lol.

Fashion’s Night Out is a great way for you to connect with designers, stylists and other bloggers. However, if not properly prepared, it can be overwhelming. Plus, you want to be able to come back and share with your readers what a great night you had along with your fabulous finds!

So, I put together this little list of tips to help bloggers like myself make this night not only fun but productive.

Here are 7 helpful tips for bloggers to make Fashion’s Night Out Productive and Fun:

  1. Bring at least 100 business cards. More is better than running out. (You do have business cards right???) Your business is card is a representation of you and your blog.
  2. If you’re a brown beauty blogger like me, don’t look exclusively for products and events just for women of color. Broaden your horizons. Chances are, you’ll not find many products that are marketed specifically toward women of color. However, there will be many brands (i.e. hair, fragrance, skin) that you can share with your readers that all women can benefit from.
  3. Make sure you bring 2-3 sharpened pencils (not pens because they not only run out, scratching out notes is messier than erasing them), a note pad and a camera with video capabilities. Always ask before taking photos or video of someone.  You can take pics of “things” (ex: jewelry) usually without asking. That’s what they want you to do.
  4. You don’t need to dress to impress but dress smart. In other words, you can dress in business casual attire. Try not to wear sneakers. If you meet a designer, you want to be taken as a serious blogger who can make/break a reputation. Not, that you want to destroy anybody’s reputation. You just want to exhibit an image that says your voice in the world of beauty and fashion is powerful.
  5. Be friendly but not too personal. Don’t be afraid to share a little about your blog and your readers. Just save the “war” stories for someone who cares. People are busy on this night and aren’t necessarily looking to make friends.
  6. Have fun with it! When you meet people, be assertive but not agressive.
  7. Last of all, if you want to update your readers live during the event, you can stop by the Lenovo Lounge on the 4th floor of Saks Fifth Avenue and use their computers to update your blog!  You’ll also be able to network with other bloggers and enter a give away to win a new IDEAPAD U300S ULTRABOOK™!
  8. Here’s a Bonus Tip: Make sure you use the free transportation available!

Got any tips you’d like to add? Do so in the comments section! Otherwise, I hope to see you around on Fashion’s Night Out!
